Canvas Bags For Work, College, School & Travel

When choosing a canvas bag for work, college, school or travel, be sure to choose a 100% heavy duty cotton canvas material. This along with other features such as leather bottoms and brass studs can increase the longevity of your canvas bag. 

Cotton canvas bags offer a casual yet sturdy solution to carrying all your daily and travel essentials. There is a wide range of styles - from backpacks to satchels and messengers, to larger duffles and holdalls, and shoulder or crossbody bags. An advantage of canvas is that cotton can be easily dyed so you'll often find your favourite style in multiple colours. 

If you are a busy-bee on the move, you may need to find a bag with a detachable, extendable strap, which would allow you to throw your canvas bag over your shoulder, keeping both hands free. 

Another consideration to make is the number of pockets, compartments and other features you will require. With the large number of styles, you'll be sure to find a one with enough compartments and pockets to suit your needs. For those travelling to work, you may find external pockets to be particularly useful for those essentials you need within easy reach i.e. tickets, purse, phone etc. For those wanting a canvas bag for college or school, you may find additional internal compartments for laptops, or pens and pencils, to be more useful. 

Compared to leather, canvas bags are often cheaper and more lightweight than leather bags. They are also easier to clean. 

Full canvas bags are easy to wash and can be simply machine washed on a cold setting (NOTE: be sure to use a 'colour-catcher' to reduce risk of dye running/bleeding). For canvas bags with leather parts (i.e. leather handles, leather bottoms, leather trims etc.), you may want to err on the side of caution and simply spot clean the canvas with a small amount of laundry detergent or castille soap and use a toothbrush or nailbrush to scrub dirty areas. 

Whilst there are firm believers that leather bags can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with castille soap, results are not guaranteed and we do not recommend this method. Please continue at your own risk.
