MAHI Leather takes its name from the Mahi River. The coordinates, posted on our badge, 22° N, 72° E, represent the mouth of the river, where it joins the Arabian Sea in Gujarat, India.
For many this is a sacred river and in a country where 103 million people lack safe water its significance is more than symbolic; that’s why MAHI Leather donates $1.50 from every sale to FRANK Water Projects (Registered Charity No. 1121273), a UK based charity which has helped more than 403,000 people in 520 communities gain access to clean water since 2005.
Total donation amount: $31,714.50
This is enough to provide water for life for 2122 people.
With easy access to a safe, sustainable supply of water, girls who would have stayed at home to help carry water, can go to school. Women who would have spent many hours each day walking to and from the water source, have time to earn a living. Whole families can break the cycle of poverty.
* Total donated up to March 2019.
