Cowhide is naturally thick, durable and hard-wearing, making it well suited to everyday use while retaining its distinctive appearance. The dense fibre structure provides natural strength and abrasion resistance, while the hair-on surface helps repel light moisture.
To create the metallic finish, a binder is carefully applied to the cowhide before the foil is placed over the hide and pressed into the surface. The foil bonds only where the binder has been applied, creating the distinctive pattern.
Because cowhides are naturally unique, no two MAHI products are ever exactly the same. All of our hides are responsibly sourced as a by-product of local farming.
